Sensational Sydney Summer

I love Sydney in the summertime! Paul and I headed out on his Mum and Dad's boat on Saturday from Apple Tree Bay. It was a lovely day to be on the water as it was stinking hot on land but once you were on the water the sea breeze cooled things down to a managable level. The edge of the water is lined with bushland with steep hills leading up to the ridge and the highway north. It was really beautiful heading up towards Broken Bay - you could see Lion Island in the distance ahead - and looking at the bush on either side and the water leading away ahead, makes you realise how great a place Sydney is, with all that wilderness so close to the city. We found a sheltered bay for lunch and swimming, the water temperature was wonderful - cold enough to cool you down but warm enough so that you could stay in and not get too cold! To round off the day we headed back to Paul's mum and dad's for dinner with the extended family, a fun, slightly chaotic with all the kids running round, but relaxed way to end a lovely day.

To round off the weekend nicely we headed out to the SCG on Sunday to see Australia finaly show some form in the one day series against New Zealand. It was a pretty enjoyable match with Australia putting on a big total of 301 despite not batting that convincingly with many shots not coming cleanly off the bat. New Zealand looked like they were struggling at first, but settled in and started getting the scoreboard ticking and the spectators concerned about our prospects... fortunately the wickets started to fall again, and the Aussie's dismissed the Kiwis for 269.
